...shared fate.

Edit: Done more work on the shockwave to make it less flat and sharp looking. Thanks for the advice guys.

Its taken the longest time out of all my deviations to create this piece and every second of it was worth it. I'm incredibly proud of this and the time I've spent on it has really paid off. By far this is the best work of space art I've done to this day.

Hopefully the picture explains the theme for itself but just for clarity the systems star has created a horrific shockwave of energy as its being ripped apart by forces unknown. A super nova? An alien weapon? Only the inhabitants of the systems only life giving planet know, and that knowledge will die with them.

The largest planetary body in the picture is actually the third satellite of the inhabited planet. I was trying to create a very dynamic composition to emphisise the momentum of the shockwave. The other two satellites have already been hit by the showckwave and are in the process of seeding the universe with new raw material.

I hope you like what I've created. I've spent a long time on this in he hope that I might be able to get a few prints sold. Half the reason it took so long was because the picture is huge so that any prints would look outstanding! I'll probably be buying a print of this for myself, the very thought amuses me nontheless.

Details of the piece at 50% full size are here: [link]

That is really well done. I know how difficult it is to create an explosion or shockwave, so 44 layers... that's interesting. I rarely finish with only 44 layers. Certainly speeds up working, because Photoshop won't use up that much memory.

Love the overall detail, but might I make a suggestion? Take out the asteroid(?) that appears to be racing towards the explosion; I assume it's suppose to be a collision? If so, it's not needed. I think it would be way more dramatic without and leaving the reason of the explosion to the imagination. Maybe just hadd a couple of larger planet fragments underneath the explosion layer(s). But... as I said; just a suggestion.

Great work nonetheless!

This would make an awesome sci-fi game area.

I live in my own world, but don't worry, they know me here.

I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior. If you do too and aren't scared to admit it, then copy and paste this in your signature.
